Home / Our Story
Because temptation tastes better
when it's wrapped in tradition & purpose.
This is not a brand story. It is the story of many women, told through flavour.
where it begins
Every story begins with a woman's hand.
We bring you this offering where every flavour has a story — and every story begins with a woman's hand stirring, kneading, or frying something that carries the warmth of her home.
Desi Cravings was born out of the desire not only to showcase the age-old culinary tradition of Bharat, but to make the women who have been custodians of this heritage become entrepreneurs in their own right.
Desi Cravings recognises that India is too flavourful to be confined to just one kitchen or one city. The aloo kachori you bite into in Delhi will never taste exactly like the one in Lucknow. The millet-based snacks of Haryana carry an earthiness different from the festive delights of Maharashtra or the rustic crunch of Rajasthan. Each land has its own zaayka, each recipe its own story, and each woman her own art.
"…something that carries the warmth of her home."
the movement
Aligned with the Women Entrepreneurship Platform.
Desi Cravings is aligned with the Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP) — a public-private initiative premised on promoting women-led development through entrepreneurship. Working closely with WEP's mission to identify and nurture women entrepreneurs through mentorship, resources and access to markets gives Desi Cravings the purpose of nation building.

Today, Desi Cravings begins with small steps — giving women collectives an avenue to share their culinary skills beyond their immediate community. Going forward, we dream much bigger.
This handholding has already begun.
Each woman brings not just her snack, but her story — of resilience, of heritage, of quiet strength now finding its voice.
And so this Diwali, when you take a bite of kachori, chakli or bajra papdi from Desi Cravings, we hope you taste more than food. We hope you taste the dreams of a woman who dared to step out — and the timeless tradition carried forward by hands that have always known how to create.
Desi Cravings is not only about snacks. It is about transforming flavours into futures. Because when a woman is given a hand to hold, she creates a thousand more to feed.
